Empowering carriers, businesses, and consumers to thrive in a trusted A2P messaging ecosystem.
Driven by a passion for mobile communications, Solvaris CEO Matt Lauer has spent 25 years shaping the A2P messaging landscape. In 1999, he co-founded Simplewire, one of the first SMS messaging aggregators in the US. Simplewire’s APIs and real-time delivery receipts transformed business-to-consumer communication, replacing clunky SMTP gateways with robust solutions. In 2006, OpenMarket (now Infobip) acquired Simplewire, recognizing its innovative API support for premium SMS payment processing that unlocked new revenue for mobile operators.
In 2002, Matt launched Solvaris, focusing on A2P messaging and e-commerce solutions. Solvaris has supported dozens of startups, handling everything from design and launch to long-term IT and infrastructure. In 2005, Solvaris partnered with TextCaster to build and operate its SMSC, playing a key role in developing a web-based permission system now recognized under U.S. Patent No. 7,197,324. Solvaris acquired TextCaster in 2021.
In 2019, Solvaris partnered with Zipwhip to create the Toll-free Registry to serve as a focal point for toll-free number transparency for mobile operators in North America. This initiative, developed in concert with carriers in the US and Canada, requires businesses to register brand and campaign details, simplifying compliance while protecting consumers from unwanted messages. The Registry streamlines compliance for registered businesses while also safeguarding consumers through documented opt-in and opt-out processes.
With Twilio’s 2021 acquisition of Zipwhip, the Registry became integral to its customer engagement platform. Today, Solvaris continues to operate the Registry, enforcing the mandatory sender verification for toll-free A2P messages. With nearly 2 million verified numbers, the Registry has a proven track record in a trusted A2P messaging ecosystem.
